Am I Waiting on God or Avoiding Action? (Christian Entrepreneur Money Mindset)

Have you ever found yourself thinking:
“I’m waiting on God’s timing…”
“I just need to pray a little more…”
“I want to be wise before I move forward…”
But deep down… something feels off?
If you’re a Christian woman entrepreneur, this tension is more common than you think.
And here’s the question that often goes unasked:
What if you’re not actually waiting on God… but hesitating?
Why You Feel Stuck (Even When You’re Praying)
You love God.You want to honor Him in your business.
So when you feel uncertain, you do what feels right:
→ you pause→ you pray→ you wait
But here’s what many women don’t realize: Waiting on God and waiting for a feeling of safety are not the same thing.
We often wait for:
emotional certainty
confidence
reassurance
But Scripture points us somewhere else.
“For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.” (2 Timothy 1:7)
God’s peace doesn’t always remove discomfort. Often, it calls you to move forward in faith, not in comfort.

The Subtle Way Fear Shows Up
Fear rarely sounds like fear.
Instead, it sounds like:
“I just need more time”
“I want to be responsible”
“I’ll wait a little longer”
So you:
delay launching
hesitate to raise your prices
avoid making necessary changes
And you call it discernment.
But underneath… there’s tension.
he Missing Piece Most Women Don’t See
This is where many Christian entrepreneurs get stuck:
They misdiagnose hesitation as wisdom.
But often, the real issue isn’t lack of clarity.
It’s what’s shaping your response to that clarity.
For example:
You may already see that your offer needs to change.
You may have confirmation through:
client feedback
repeated nudges
clear next steps
Yet you still hold back.
Why?
Because something deeper is influencing your decisions.
→ This is often where scarcity or poverty mindset is at work.
Fear of rejection
Fear people won’t pay
Fear of stepping into more
Not because you don’t trust God…
But because your thinking hasn’t been fully renewed yet.
How to Discern: Wisdom or Fear?
Here are two simple filters you can use:
1. Is this leading me to trust God more… or shrink back?
“But my righteous one shall live by faith, and if he shrinks back, my soul has no pleasure in him.” (Hebrews 10:38)
God’s leading moves you toward faith. Fear keeps you in avoidance.
2. Is this producing clarity… or keeping me stuck?
Fear often creates:
overthinking
second-guessing
constant circling
Clarity, even when uncomfortable, leads to action.
What’s Actually Under Your Hesitation?
This is the question most people avoid:
Do you actually know what’s driving your decisions?
Because hesitation can look like:
perfectionism
overthinking
“being careful”
But underneath, it may be:
→ fear of rejection
→ fear of failure
→ scarcity thinking
And when that goes unaddressed…
You don’t just delay. You disobey what you already know to do.
A Simple Step You Can Take Today
You don’t need to fix everything today.
But you can take one step.
Start here:
Notice the thought
→ What are you telling yourself?
Replace it with truth
Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.” (Proverbs 16:3)
Take one small step forward
→ not everything
→ just the next step
What Happens When You Stop Avoiding
I’ve seen this again and again with the women I work with.
They thought they were waiting on God…But once they identified the fear, everything shifted.
From hesitation → action
From confusion → clarity
From avoidance → stewardship
Not because everything became easy…
But because they finally saw what was actually holding them back.
The Real Question
So let me ask you: Are you truly waiting on God…or avoiding what you already know?

You don’t need to rush ahead of God. But you also don’t need to stay stuck in hesitation.
